What we collect

Your email address (for verification and to save your results). Your answers to the 12-question intake and daily reflections. Basic usage data via Plausible Analytics (no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers, just page views and events in aggregate).

Why we collect it

Your email verifies you are a real person and lets us send your results. Your answers drive the profile snapshot shown to you. Analytics help us understand how the product is used, not who uses it.

Compass processing and your consent

Compass uses automated language processing to read your answers and return personalised guidance. This processing occurs on our servers — your answers are not processed on your device. Where a third-party AI provider (such as Groq) is used to perform synthesis, your answers are transmitted to that provider's API under a data-processing agreement. The provider processes your answers solely to generate a response; your data is not used to train their models by default, and we do not opt in to training. By enrolling in Compass you consent to your answers being processed for this purpose. This processing is part of the service. Without it, Compass cannot function. If you do not consent, do not enrol, or delete your account at any time. We delete the data we control (your answers, profile, and account) on request, typically within 7 days. Provider records expire under their own data-retention policies and we request deletion where their APIs allow it. We do not share your answers with any third party outside of the processing described above.

How long we keep it

Your email and answers are stored on our application server in append-only files. You can request full deletion at any time; we will action it within 7 days and confirm by email. Before public launch we plan to migrate to a managed, encrypted database hosted in Australia and will update this policy and request renewed consent at that time.

Research use

We may, in future, aggregate anonymised answers to study patterns across users. This is strictly opt-in. You will be asked separately with a clear checkbox. It is off by default. Before any research program activates, we will post an updated version of this policy.

Third parties

We use Resend to send verification emails. We use Plausible Analytics (EU-hosted, privacy-first) for aggregate usage data. Compass AI synthesis may be handled by Groq, Inc. under a data-processing agreement; see their privacy policy at groq.com/privacy. We use Clerk for authentication; see clerk.com/privacy. We use Stripe for payment processing; see stripe.com/privacy. We do not sell your data. We plan to migrate database storage to a managed, encrypted database hosted in Australia before full public launch; this policy will be updated and renewed consent requested at that time.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or full deletion by emailing hello@polarishouse.org. We will respond within 30 days.

Subscription data [DRAFT]

If you subscribe to Compass Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We receive a record of your subscription status and a Stripe customer identifier; we do not receive or store your full card details. Billing records are retained for the period required by Australian tax law.
